PRINT PRODUCTION AND DESIGN SKILLS

Production Planning/Business Management
can plan and execute production of projects large and small, from folding and stuffing envelopes to printing effective promotional marketing and branding materials while sticking to a customer’s limited budget; as an entrepreneur in the sweater cottage industry, I developed techniques and trained home knitters to produce sweaters that could be knit efficiently so that at least half the cost of the production was paid to the knitter, at a price that would allow for sales commissions and a profit for the company; have taken part in planning and “strategizing” and promotion for many events and projects conducted by both the Maine Department of Agriculture and Maine Fiberarts including farm and studio tours, gallery shows, newsletters, and online resources

WEBSITE CREATION AND MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

art directed the redesign, overhauled and improved the usability of the Maine Department of Agriculture website, including pages for all the Divisions at that time, including the re-design of the Maine Department of Agriculture’s separate marketing website in 2003 and 2005 (please know that I have not been involved there since 2008 and I am very sad to see what it has become, although I totally understand what politics and mergers do to government sponsored enterprise websites); created templates for all internal Divisions and programs, transferred and edited content and helped train content providers using Contribute software (sign of the times); developed and maintained searchable marketing and informational web pages for the Maine Department of Agriculture’s marketing web site, at first using a local database with nightly or weekly uploads to the web, then in the last couple of years I was there, using online data input directly from constituents using forms and tools I created and implemented; minor redesign of Dreamweaver-based website of Maine Fiberarts in 2006-2007 with major conversion in 2010-2011 to a CMS-based site using Joomla!
